Our first sheepie, Sherry, came to us from the Androscoggin County SPCA.  She was three years old, as was our daughter at the time, (also adopted).  Sherry was a wonderful dog who acted as though she had lived with us since birth.   She remained part of our family for 11 years.  Our NEOESR boy, Prescott, joined us a year later.  Prescott was an overgrown, overweight teddy bear.  Even though he weighed 120 pounds he was the most gently, calm dog I've ever met.  On his second day with us he proceeded to take over the couch, and also our hearts.  He insisted on being a lapdog, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  In 2001 we lost Prescott due to complications from surgery.  Our home had never seemed so empty and quiet.   Six months later, we did the most outrageous thing we have ever done - we drove from Maine to West Virginia, met with Prescott's breeder, and brought home a handsome puppy.  We named him Moocher, which was Prescott's nickname, and he certainly has filled the emptiness left in our hearts with Prescott's death.  It is amazing how these sheepies take over your life!  When Grannie Annie finds another rescue dog that would like to live in Maine, our home and hearts are ready and waiting.

In making our square, I made the large sheepie to represent all sheepies, past, present, and future.  The small square show each of our sheepies with our daughter, Amy.  Sherry is in the top right corner, Prescott is in the bottom left corner, and Moocher is in the bottom right corner.  The pieced sheepie square is from the
Debbie Mumm book Bowsers and Meowsers.
